Idyllic Peppermint Grove Beach is 5 to 10 minutes west of Capel and only two and a half hours south of Perth.
It’s really close to Bunbury and Busselton and is an ideal base for you to explore the southwest of WA.
Peppy Beach Cottage is about two hours from Perth, if you follow the main Kwinana Freeway and Bussell Highway. Turn right just after Capel turn-off (Capel is on the left and you will see a sign showing Caravan Park to go right).
The beach is only 200m from the house! If you go left from top of driveway, you will reach a path in a couple of mins, and this heads straight down to the water. If you go right from top of driveway you, you will reach the road that heads towards main beach. Turn right and follow all the way to beach. There is a playground, BBQ, showers and toilets.
Across from the house there’s a magical lookout. Make sure you do this at sunset.
Take nibbles, drinks and watch the sun set over Geographe Bay … You can see all the way over to Dunsborough and Eagle Bay and the lighthouse. Great for photos, so take your phone!
The Peppermint Grove Caravan Park has a general store where you can pick up most things, including groceries. However, we recommend going into Capel.
The caravan park is also open on Fri, Sat and Sun nights from 4pm for drinks and food – Many of the local’s head here for evening drinks!
Capel is only a 5min drive and it has an IGA, liquor store, cafes, etc.
Plus, it has a fantastic scooter/skate park, BMX pump track and playground.
Up the road is Capel Vale Winery – Fabulous food, wine and views over the vineyard!
Bunbury and Busselton are each only 20-30mins away. We love both, but highly recommend Shelter Brewing at Busselton Jetty. Great beers, pizzas, burgers and food for the kids, with oval, skatepark and playground… Plus, the beach has shark nets, if that’s something you worry about. You can also take the back streets to Busso – Just follow your GPS! Or head to Aristos in Bunbury for seafood.
If you haven’t visited the Ferguson Valley, we can tell you it’s worth your while.
Two places to dine at are Ferguson Falls Winery and Wild Bull Brewery, both have great food and drinks.
St Aiden’s is also great too! Plus, don’t forget Gnomes Ville – A secret town of Gnomes!!
A little further south is Meelup Farmhouse in Eagle Bay/Dunsborough.
Great service, food and atmosphere awaits.
